Coffee City is a lake community sitting on a peninsula that juts out into Lake Palestine in East Texas. With three sides of the city bordered by water, Coffee City is one of the most popular towns for fishing, boating and other water sports. Texas State Highway #155 bridges across two sections of the lake to access this unique location. Coffee City is approximately 16 miles from Tyler, 20 miles from Jacksonville, and 30 miles from Athens.
Coffee City is the ideal place for the mom and pop business or new entrepreneur to birth and grow a business. Though advertised as a popular retirement community, which it is, the median age in the city is 46 years. The city boasts of being a great place to raise children, where they can experience both urban and rural Texas cultures. Gentry Temple is the sole church in the community, but almost every denomination is within minutes from Coffee City

Coffee City and Lake Palestine are very popular with professional and amateur photographers. Situated in Henderson County, Coffee City borders Smith County and is only five miles from Anderson County. Coffee City is in the Brownsboro School District and is served by the school bus system.
Coffee City was incorporated in 1969 as a Texas Type B General-Law Municipality. The governing body is composed of five Aldermen or Council Members and a Mayor, elected at large and serving two years. It’s authority is derived from the Texas Constitution, the Government Code and the Local Government Code (Title 2 Chapter 23).
Coffee City is located in Precinct 4 of Henderson County, and most voters in section 4CC of the precinct vote in elections at the Coffee City Community Center. City Hall, the Police Department, the Fire Department, and the Community Center are all located at one convenient location, 7019 Pleasant Ridge Road (aka CR 4217) off FM 3506.
October 14, 2014, the Commissioner’s Court lifted the burn ban for Henderson County.
